Len Semplice – Coach / Hockey / Administration

  • Graduate of South Hills Catholic, began coaching hockey at age 15 and coached for 32 years
  • Coached at Upper St. Clair from 1976-1984, winning league titles in 1980 and 1981 and a PA. title in 1980 at age 21
  • Head coach at Central Catholic 1984-1988, winning division titles in 1987 and 1988 and a WPIHL title in 1987
  • First American born head coach in Toronto’s Metro League
  • General manager/head coach of the Wisconsin Capitals,
  • Trained a Korea University team and a professional team in Canada and was the first American to coach hockey at the professional level in Europe
  • Named Director of the McKnight Hockey Center at Shady Side Academy and head hockey coach in 1994.
  • Founder and long time commissioner of the Midwest Prep Hockey League. That league’s championship trophy bears his name.
