Inductee of Distinction

  • Born in Detroit, MI and attended the University of Denver
  • Led the University of Denver to two NCAA Championships in 1968 and 1969
  • Played center in the NHL for four different clubs over a nine-year career
  • In the 1980 Winter Olympics he was the General Manager and Assistant Coach of the USA’s Gold Medal “Miracle on Ice” winning team
  • Head Coach of the New York Rangers 1980-81 and Rangers General Manager 1981-1986
  • General Manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins 1989-2006, winning Stanley Cups in 1991& 1992
  • Elected into the National Hockey League Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001
